The Personal Assistant to governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State, Evangelist Emem Udom has commended the governor’s wife, Dr Martha Udom in her vigorous fight against domestic and gender-based violence. He made the commendation during a town hall meeting held recently with stakeholders and community leaders of Ukanafun and Oruk Anam Federal Constituency at the Ukanafun Local Government Council hall during the campaign to synthesize the people on the danger of sexual and gender base violence. Mr Emem described the governor’s wife as a woman with deep passion for the protection of weak and vulnerable people such as women and young people who suffer in silence in the face of daily domestic and sexual violence by abusive husbands and restless people.
During the said exercise, EMUSON a socio-political group and grass root movement supporting Evang Emem Udom aspiration to become Member, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in 2023 also commended Her Excellency Dr. Martha Udom on her sustained fight against gender and domestic violence.
Speaking during the said exercise, the coordinator of EMUSON, Mr Abasiofiok Etukudo expressed his delight over the steps taken by the anti child abuse, sexual harassment and gender base violence campaign of the governor’s wife to rid our society of the deadly menace of such dehumanizing behaviors.
Also speaking during the said exercise was Comrade Ini Young Mark , a community base business man and political analyst who personally joined in the campaign. Comrade Mark in his remark while describing Evang Emem Udom as a grassroot man of the people, thank the governor’s Personal Assistant for openly identifying with and supporting the campaign.
Mr Young described domestic and gender-based violence as a deadly menace in our society that has traumatized many and robbed them of happiness. He pledged to personally support the campaign and mobilise many people to key in also.
