On 28th October 2023, Obong Eno Sampson Akpan was honoured with the exalted chieftaincy title of ADAHA AKWA AFAHA by Mboho Akwa Afaha Worldwide.
The colouful ceremony took place during the commissioning of the international headquarters of Mboho Akwa Afaha at No.20 Okon Essien Street, off Nepa Line, Uyo, Nigeria.
The Scottish Statesman and essayist Thomas Carlyle probably had a man in the mould of Obong Eno Akpan in mind when he wrote in one of his 19th century essays,
“No great man lives in vain. The history of the world is but the biography of great men.”
Obong Eno Akpan whose abridged citation was read during the conferment ceremony is a man who is truly great. His influence in leadership ranging from the private sector, politics, religion and community building spans across five decades. Obong Akpan’s impact in advancement of the cause of development and humanity is unparalleled.
A glimpse into his leadership journey shows that he was his secondary school senior prefect at HOFACO, student union president at Calabar Polytechnic, Ukanafun local government chairman, Member House of Representatives, Commissioner and member of Akwa Ibom State executive Council among other positions in both private and public sector too numerous to mention.
As a blue blooded Prince from Ikot Udombang village in Afaha Echid Iko in Ukanafun, Obong Eno Akpan has grown to become one of the outstanding persons of in Akwa Ibom State whose leadership footprints on the sands of time will continue to remain indelible.
He is currently the Political Leader of Ukanafun.

- A Brief Citations/Profile of RT. HON. (OBONG) ENO S. ARPAN,
Rt. Hon. (0bong) Eno S. Akpan is Fellow Certified National Accountant and holds a Masters Degree or Business Administration from Enugu State University of Science and Technology.
His working experience spans through various entities including Public Sector, Banking, Business and Agriculture. He started work as Invoice Clerk with Tractor & Equipment Company in Port
Harcourt. He later joined the then South Eastern State Government Ministry of Home Affairs as Clerical Officer. He also served as an Auditor with Audit Department in Cross River State Government.
He was the Pioneer Chief Internal Auditor with Cross River State, Agricultural Development Project (ADP). He later joined the defunct Mercantile Bank of Nigeria Plc as an Assistant Accountant and rose to the rank ofa Full Fletch Manager. While serving in Mercantile Bank, he was appointed as Supervisory Councillor for Works and Community Development in the then Care Taker Committee, Ukanafun Local Government Area. He contested and Won the Chairmanship Election of Ukanafun Local Government Area on the platform of National Center Party of Nigeria. He participated in the
Formation and became the Pioneer Member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from Ukanafun Local Government Area.
He later contested and won Election to represent Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency in the National Assembly. He served as Chairman, House Commnittee on Special Projectsand Chairman Inter-Governmental Affairs Committee.Between year 2009 and 2015, he served as a Commissioner in the following Ministries: Environment, Agriculture, Lands and Town Planning. His service as a Commissioner witnessed such value additions as the building of the Akwa Ibom State Waste Management Office, the establishment of Women Agricultural Entrepreneurial Department Programme(WADEP) where Over 4500 women were empowered across all the Wards in the State with the sum of #250,000.(Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira) each. Preparation of the Layout for the Permanent Site for the Federal Polytechnic, Ukana by the Ministry of Lands and Town Planning without any rec0urse to External Consultants.
