Governor Umahi may convert to Islam to be President
There are speculations currently brewing around that governor Umahi of Ebonyi State may convert from Christianity to Islam in an effort to secure the presidential ticket under the APC come 2023. Recall that Mr Umahi recently defected from PDP to APC claiming marginalization of the south east and the overbearing nature of governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State as the reasons for his exit.
Information reaching Townhall Platform from Abuja grapevine pot reveals that Governor Umahi is now under intense pressure to dump Christianity and defect to Islam to build confidence within the top northern Muslim echelon that he is truly one of them in faith. The people coordinating the pressure mounting on Umahi are said to have read his desperation to become president well and cash in on it to trick him to switch his religion. An inside source in the team working on the governor to switch his Christian faith said that desperation on the part of Umahi was the key reason they are trying to lure him to defect to Islam. The group is said to have been so convince that if Umahi had wanted to go to the Senate in 2023, he would have still coasted home to the red chambers victoriously without having to defect to APC giving his records of achievements in his state as governor. It is however it is not clear yet whether the Ebonyi governor is favourably disposed to the idea of dumping his faith as a sacrifice to land in Aso Rock. Why a man in governor Umahi’s standing would want to switch faith to become president is very disturbing. Let us just hope that the whole issue will remain and die at the level of mere rumour
