Forgotten by men, but remembered by God

Connect with God

SCRIPTURE: Esther 6:1-3 “That night the king could not sleep; so he ordered the book of the chronicles, the record of his reign, to be brought in and read to him. It was found recorded there that Mordecai had exposed Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king’s officers who guarded the doorway, who had conspired to assassinate King Xerxes. “What honor and recognition has Mordecai received for this?” the king asked. “Nothing has been done for him,” his attendants answered.”
MESSAGE: Have you ever found yourself in a situation where the very people you sacrificed so much to help turned their back on you? Many at times, we get hurt and bitter when people we helped turned around to betray us by not rewarding or appreciating our gesture. This happens a lot in the field of politics where you invest your precious time, resources and energy to support a particular candidate. Quite often, when most of the candidates emerge victorious, they abandon their helpers and embrace new set of friends they feel suit their new status. Such scenario and many others are enough to generate bitterness and hurt. But then, we should not forget that man by his nature is a selfish being, full of ego and forgetfulness. So, when we do good to people, we should have it at the back of our minds that it can only be remembered and rewarded by God at the right time.
The story in our anchor scripture is a very instructive lesson on how God remembers and reward good deeds at the appointed time. Mortdecai a Jewish captive and palace gateman in ancient Persia had exposed an evil conspiracy to poison the king. His noble act was noted and recorded in the history book but he was not rewarded probably because he was a Jew and a captive under slavery. Haman the King’s right-hand man and chief of staff, an arch enemy of the Jews probably ensured that Mortdecai was not rewarded. Haman even constructed a gallows to hang Mordecia and sought a royal decree to destroy all the Jews in Persia. It was this same season that God remembered Mordecia that He caused the King to lose his sleep and called for historical records. That same season Mordecia was rewarded and elevated to the position of the second in command in the kingdom while Haman was hung on the very galore, he prepared for Modercia.
Friends keep in mind that we are serving a faithful God who does not overlook your labour nor sacrifices or the good deeds you sow. He hears your prayers. He knows your pains and betrayals and will surely visit you at the appointed time. Though men may try to block, hinder or frustrate you on account of your gender, tribe, background, at the appointed time God will sure remember and openly reward you as He did to Mordecia.
PRAYER: My Father and my Lord, I remove every obstacle blocking my reward, promotion and restoration this season. Cause records to be searched and those in authority not to rest until they restore my loses and reward me openly In Jesus name-Amen.
